World records to start the week right!

As you’ve probably read by now, modu was awarded the world’s record for being the lightest mobile phone. An honor we’ll boast at every chance we get! J This led me to wonder what other world record awards have been awarded that I’ve never heard of?

Here a few of the strangest that caught my attention from The Guinness World Records website.

From the Epic Journeys category -Longest Backwards Motorcycle Ride

The record for the longest backwards motorcycle ride is 150 km (93.21 miles) and was achieved by Hou Xiaobin (China) in Binzhou City, China, on October 4, 2006.

From the Planet World Category - Heaviest Apple

The heaviest apple weighed 1.849 kg (4 lb 1 oz) and was grown and picked by Chisato Iwasaki at his apple farm in Hirosaki City, Japan October 24, 2005.

And finally for your reading amusement

From the Obscure Category- Rock Skipping

A Pennsylvania man cast a stone that skipped on water a whopping 51 times, shattering the old world record of 40.  Russel “Rock Bottom” Byars easily beat the old record of 40 skips with his first throw on the Allegheny River in Franklin. Guinness officials verified the record by analyzing film of the feat.
I think the best I could do is 3.

If you know of any other recent, odd records pass them along. Post them in the comments!
